APRIL SHOWERS BRINGS MAY FLOWERS umbrella PDF template -FREE!!!

I use this sheet for my lesson with 2nd grade, but this can easily be used with 1st or 3rd grade as well! Can be used alongside my YouTube tutorial on the lesson! @molliefilmore on YouTube

STEP BY STEP DRAWING GUIDE ON HOW TO DRAW A 3D CAKE WITH MISSING SLICE inspired by Wayne Thiebaud — $1.25

Step-by-step sheets (2) on how to draw a 3D cake with a missing slice taken out.
2 pages – PDF – $1.25

Hand drawn by me,  geared towards grades 3rd through 5th

Can be used alongside my YouTube video tutorial on “Mixed-Media Cake inspired by Wayne Thiebaud“

@molliefilmore (YouTube channel)

SPLATTERED PAINTBRUSHES” resource sheets x2 (FREE!!!) PDF

Two hand drawn sheets of various paintbrushes that you can download (PDF) and print out on copy paper (making it double sided) to use as a reference for your students to observe when drawing paintbrushes in the classroom. I use these for my 5th grade “Splattered Paint Brushes” art lesson.

This lesson can be found on my website www.artwithmrsfilmore.com under “5th Grade Art Lessons”

Students do not trace, but draw from observation and make the brushes a bit larger on their paper.
Use these handouts again and again year after year for all kinds of art lessons!
My students love using these as a visual aide while drawing!

Fill in the blank list of questions sheet for the abstract self-portrait lesson for 2nd grade.

These 2 sheets of fill in the blank questions are for the 2nd grade “Abstract Self-Portrait” art lesson (you can view this lesson under “2nd grade art lessons”/ example pic below )

I give each student the double sided sheet with questions on day 1 of the lesson to fill out, then you can either use this sheet to cut the answers into strips to glue down on their painting once the photo goes down —or— retype the answers into one sheet of sentences per student (which is what I do) and then kids cut the strips of sentences out to glue down.

Finish The Picture” sheets

“Finish the Picture” PDF  sheets include 3 different hand-made sheets that have a random line or shape drawn inside 6 boxes per sheet.

Students add to each box with pencil to turn the random lines/shapes into a picture of something.

I use these sheets every year in the beginning of the year in art, for all grades. Such a great way to get the creative juices flowing again after summer break!

  • Students can turn the page anyway they want
  • Low stress, easy-breezy art prompt, where there are tons of possibilities
  • When you copy the sheets make them double-sided, but have kids only draw on one side, so parents and other people can see the “before” and what the student created!
  • Also a great addition for your sub binder

I Am” Statements resource sheet

This PDF includes 2 sheets that lists positive affirmations to use with a variety of art lessons (self-portraits, name designs, ELA / SEL focused lessons)

Two pages of a variety of positive description words

At the end of page 2 it lists “I  Can” statements

I use this with both 3rd and 5th grade for Art

3rd creates a self-portrait then writes positive affirmations all around in the background, and 5th draws their name in bubble letters and colors in the letters with colored pencils focusing on value / making the edges darkest and gradually gets lighter towards the center of each bubble letter to make them look more 3D.

Then students write a variety of positive affirmations all around their name.

”Love Yourself” art lesson is under 5th Grade Art Lessons at the very bottom of the page

Mixing Primary Colors Sheet

A simple, ready to print PDF file for your younger students when learning the primary and secondary colors.

Students can paint inside the pre-drawn circles that are labeled by color and then mix the primary colors to make secondary.

Printing on 80# white drawing paper, or medium weight tagboard recommended if using paint.

Artist Statement / Reflection sheet -PDF

Artist statement sheet for upper Elementary students to answer questions once students have completed an art lesson inspired by a particular artist or artists.

I had my 5th graders fill this sheet out after finishing a lesson last year.

Having students reflect on what they learned about and write about their artwork encourages them to think about their artistic decisions, can help create new ideas for future projects and helps them remember what they learned.

Connects to ELA and SEL and can be used with any art lesson.

You can take this one step further and have students type out the entire sheet once filled out, then display their artist statements next to their artwork.

Sandra Silberzweig art lesson resource

This resource can be used when creating an abstract portrait or abstract self-portrait inspired by Sandra Silberzweig. PDF

It contains 2 pages of hand drawn step-by-step instructions on how to draw an abstracted face in her style, an assessment sheet (hand drawn) on using tertiary colors, and a reflection sheet students can fill out after they create their artwork.

Simple steps that are easy to follow that also allow for creative freedom on adding their own details and patterns within their artwork.

Leaf templates/Tracers

3 FREE hand drawn leaf templates to print out and use for a variety of fall art lessons. PDF

I use them with the “Dotted Leaf Painting” art lesson for 4th grade. Listed under “4th Grade Art Lessons”  with photos and more directions on the lesson. See pic of example below.

You can print these out on heavy weight tagboard or cardstock to create the leaf tracers, or use them as a drawing reference for a variety of fall art lessons!

Airplane drawing template

Hand drawn airplane to print out to use for multiple art lessons. PDF

I use this with my “Love is in the Air” art lesson for 1st Grade. You can find the lesson under 1st Grade Art Lessons. See pic below

Fun mixed-media art lesson for Valentine’s Day for 1st grade!

suitable for Kindergarten and up!

Recommend printing the plane out on 80# white drawing paper, or medium weight tagboard. Students then can design and color in their airplane with markers, colored pencils, crayons, or create a crayon-wax resist with watercolors!

Students then can cut out their plane and glue onto their painted background.

You can see photos of the “Love is in the Air” lesson under “1st Grade Art Lessons “ along with steps on how to create it!

Woodland Creatures Step-by-Step Drawing Sheets

Simple to follow step-by-step drawing sheets -PDF files. 3 sheets total. Sheets include step by step instruction on how to draw a fox, how to draw a rabbit, and how to draw a wolf. All hand drawn. I use these with my 2nd graders in art to create animals for the  “Birch Tree Landscapes“ art lesson.

Easy step-by-step instruction for Elementary aged students grades 2 and up.

Great for any animal drawing lesson!

“Birch Tree Landscapes” can be found under 2nd grade Art Lessons

3D Water Lily Tracer Template

Print out a tracing template I created with the 3 petals ( large, medium and small) for the 2nd grade art lesson 3D water lily inspired by Monet (found under my  2nd Grade Art Lessons page). I also have a YouTube video on how to create one!

Either you can print out once on cardstock or tagboard and then cut out the 3 petals to trace on each students paper, for them to cut out, OR print out multiple sheets (1 for each student) to cut out their OWN petal tracers to then trace 6 large, 6 medium and 6 small petals on their papers and then cut out. SUPERHERO MASK TEMPLATES (4) PDF

This was a super fun one day lesson!! (40 minute class) *Some classes needed a day 2 to complete

I drew four different mask shapes, each on a sheet of 9 x 12” super heavy weight tag board paper and then ran each one through the copy machine. I recommend printing these out on “super heavyweight tagboard” (or thick cardstock)

Students could design their mask anyway they wanted with pencil first and then colored in with markers. Once finished they cut out their mask and then folded a little bit where the eyes were and then cut a tiny slice so they could get their scissors inside and then cut out the eyes.

Some students even decided to draw above the mask line to add other details as seen in the photos above like rabbit ears and additional details above their mask design. They were extremely creative!

To fit their mask to their face I had straps that I cut from the same super heavy weight tag board paper into 9“ x 2“ strips. Each mask got 2 strips. I helped them staple each strip end to each side of their mask first, then put the mask against their face to measure out where the straps should meet/ overlap and then stapled at that area, so it would fit snug on their head, but be able to come off easily at the same time.

Students LOOVED this fun and engaging lesson and wore them immediately after they were finished being sized!

This lesson coincided with reading the book “Almost Super” within their classroom, at one of my schools.

After students finish their masks, you could have students draw their own superheroes too, or have them write about what their superhero name would be, what powers do they have, what greater good are they fighting for, where does their superhero live etc. to connect to literacy.

Great for ALL ages!!

LEARNING GOALS

  • Students continue to enhance their cutting skills
  • Students can use a variety of line, shape, color, texture, and pattern to design their own unique mask
  • Students understand that art can connect/ relate with other subjects

As well as a practice worksheet that is labeled and sectioned, to have students practice drawing these elements on during art class (before they move onto drawing their own house). This practice sheet is the same sheet I use in my video.

Use to print out, make copies and staple into packets for students to use as reference when drawing their own unique Victorian house.

Easy to follow steps that my 4th graders use when creating their Victorian homes. Can be used for other grades as well.

Connects to math (geometry)

Recommended for 4th grade and up.

My YouTube tutorial (@MollieFilmore) on this lesson  can also be used alongside these resources in your classroom.

You can break up the video into chunks per art class.

The first 20 minutes of my video would be great for day 1 of the lesson.

Overall, my 4th graders need 5-6 40 minute classes to complete the drawing (including sharpie and coloring in).

The video shows me explaining:

What is architecture

Victorian architecture

Shows photos of various Victorian houses with me describing each Victorian element (with arrows and text that correlate on each photo

Demonstrating  how to draw each (bay window, 3D steps, fish scale shingles, brick patterns, stone details, turrets/towers, and gables with gingerbread details) on a practice sheet (which is the same practice sheet included on my TpT resource!)
